Thanksgiving Sausage Stuffing: Fresh bread cubes and savory pork sausage. A must-have favorite, double up for seconds!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 0.75 cup melted margarine, or as needed
  • 1.5 cups chopped celery
  • 0.75 cup finely diced onion
  • 8 cups soft bread cubes, divided
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Prepare all your ingredients.
  • Brown sausage in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until cooked through, approximately 10 minutes. Transfer sausage to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
  • Transfer your pan drippings to a liquid measure. Stir in melted margarine until it reaches 1 cup, then pour the mixture back into the skillet over medium heat.
  • Sauté celery and onion in the skillet until onion is tender but not browned, for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Incorporate a third of the bread cubes and mix until coated.
  • Pour the bread and onion mixture into a large bowl, then mix in the sausage, remaining bread cubes, poultry seasoning, and pepper until fully combined, being careful as the mixture will be hot.
  • Oven bake until perfectly cooked.
