Ziti layered with savory sausage, creamy ricotta, gooey mozzarella, and rich tomato sauce, baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package ziti pasta
  • 1 pound mild Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 (24 ounce) jars Classico® Tomato and Basil Sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried basil, divided
  • 12 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1.5 teaspoons Italian seasoning, divided
  • 1 dash salt and pepper
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) while bringing a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in the boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes until it's al dente, then drain.
  • Brown sausage in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly cooked. Drain, crumble, and set aside. Heat pasta sauce with 1 teaspoon of basil in a large saucepan until bubbling. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta with 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • In a 9x13 inch baking dish, generously coat the bottom with sauce. Add a layer of half of the ziti, half of the sausage, half of the ricotta, and half of the mozzarella. Pour half of the sauce on top. Repeat the layers for extra flavor. Finally, sprinkle the remaining basil and Italian seasoning over the top.
  • Place in a perfectly heated oven for 40-45 minutes.
