Elevate classic apple crisp with juicy blueberries and a scoop of ice cream for an irresistible dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 5 cups fresh blueberries
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • - Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), while you generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with luxurious butter.
  • Combine 2 cups whole wheat flour, rolled oats, butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt in a bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat until the mixture resembles pea-size crumbs, about 3 to 5 minutes. Refrigerate until needed.
  • In a large bowl, mix together apples, blueberries, brown sugar, white sugar, whole wheat flour, lemon juice, lemon zest, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with the crumble mixture.
  • Bake in a hot oven until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling, for 35 to 45 minutes.
