Cheesy beef and macaroni bake topped with golden crumbs.
Ingredients:
  • 13.80 gm olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 500g beef mince
  • 400g can diced Italian tomatoes
  • 22.20 gm tomato paste
  • 125 ml beef stock
  • 1 quantity classic macaroni cheese made with tasty cheese
  • 50g breadcrumbs
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 190°C and lightly grease a 2.5 litre ovenproof dish. 2. Heat oil in a large frying pan, add the onion, and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until soft and lightly golden. 3. Stir in garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Cook the mince for 5 minutes, continuously breaking up lumps with a wooden spoon until golden brown.
  • Combine the tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef stock in a pot and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the liquid has reduced. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar to taste. Allow to cool slightly before using.
  • Layer half of the macaroni cheese in the prepared dish. Add the bolognese mixture on top, followed by the remaining macaroni cheese. Sprinkle with fresh breadcrumbs and bake for 20 minutes until golden on top.
