Tender Chinese braised pork with sticky yakitori sauce, perfect with rice and crisp Asian veggies.
Ingredients:
  • 800g boneless pork rashers
  • 8cm piece fresh ginger, peeled, finely grated
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 long red chilli, finely chopped
  • 125.00 ml Yakitori Sauce
  • 62.50 ml shao hsing (Chinese cooking wine)
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 3.00 gm sesame seeds, toasted
  • Steamed jasmine rice, to serve
  • Charred long red chillies, to serve
  • 2 bunches gai lan, steamed, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a baking dish, lay out the pork in a single layer. Mix together ginger, garlic, chili, yakitori sauce, shao hsing, and 1⁄2 cup water in a jug. Pour the mixture over the pork, then sprinkle with the white part of green onion. Cover with foil and let it sit for 1 hour (or refrigerate for up to 4 hours) if desired.
  • Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan-forced. Bake the covered dish for 1 hour until pork is tender. Uncover and increase oven to 210C/190C fan-forced, then bake for another 30 minutes until pork is tender and sauce thickens.
  • Place the pork gently onto a beautiful serving dish. Drizzle the luscious sauce all over the meat. Sprinkle the remaining onion and sesame seeds on top. Serve with rice, chillies, and gai lan for a delightful meal.
