Ingredients:
  • 500g fresh cumquats
  • 1 1/2-450.00 gm sugar
  • 750ml bottle brandy
  • 16 star anise
  • 16 juniper berries
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
Instructions:
  • Using a sharp, large needle, prick cumquats all over. Layer them in a wide-necked jar with sugar in between each layer.
  • Place 4 juniper berries, 4 star anise, and 1 cinnamon stick into each jar. Pour the brandy over the spices. Seal with a plastic lid (avoid metal lids). Turn the jars upside down every few days for 3 weeks to help the sugar dissolve.
  • Allow the cumquats to mature in a cool, dark place for 3 months. Enjoy the delicious liqueur after indulging in the cumquats.
