Freeze cookie dough for a convenient, ready-to-bake treat anytime within two months.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups Gold Medal™ flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped nuts
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, cream together brown sugar, butter, vanilla, and egg until smooth. Gradually mix in all the remaining ingredients except the nuts. Once combined, gently fold in the nuts.
  • Shape the dough into a 10x3-inch rectangle on plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for about 2 hours until firm, but no more than 24 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Slice the rectangle into 1/8-inch slices and place them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake until lightly golden for 6 to 8 minutes. Let cool for 1 to 2 minutes before transferring to cooling racks.
