Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup butter (do not use margarine)
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, lightly toasted
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. In a 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns a lovely light golden brown color. Remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes before using.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend together browned butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla, and egg until combined. Gradually mix in flour, baking soda, and salt on low speed. Gently fold in chocolate chips and pecans.
  • Spoon heaping tablespoonfuls of slightly crumbly dough onto cookie sheets, ensuring they are 2 inches apart. Use your hands to shape the dough mounds.
  • Bake until golden brown, which should take about 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring from the baking sheets to the cooling racks.
