Korean-style sesame sweet burger patties, pan-fried for a quick and flavorful Korean BBQ experience without the wait.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 3 cloves roasted garlic, mashed
  • 0.25 cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Asian (toasted) sesame oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium-low heat, stirring frequently until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Then, promptly transfer to a bowl to cool.
  • Combine ground beef, green onions, roasted garlic, mirin wine, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, salt, and toasted sesame seeds in a large bowl. Mix well. Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape each into a 1/2 inch thick beef patty.
  • Cook the burgers in a large skillet over medium-low heat until they are browned and the meat is no longer pink inside, about 8 minutes on each side. Ensure they reach an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees F (65 degrees C) using an instant-read meat thermometer.
