Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls made with a fluffy buttermilk yeast dough, filled with gooey brown sugar and cinnamon filling. Perfect to prepare ahead and bake fresh in the morning.
Ingredients:
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 1.25 cups brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Combine yeast and warm water in a large bowl, allowing it to sit for about 10 minutes until creamy. Warm buttermilk in a small saucepan until it's warm to the touch.
  • Add the buttermilk and oil to the yeast mixture and mix thoroughly. Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually mix the flour mixture into the liquid until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 20 times. Cover and allow it to rest for 15 minutes. In a separate small bowl, blend the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Roll out dough on a floured surface into a big rectangle, coat with brown sugar and butter, then roll it into a log and seal the seam. Slice into 1-inch pieces, place in a greased 10x15 baking pan cut side up. Let rise for 30 minutes at room temperature or overnight in the fridge. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) before baking.
  • Place in a hot oven for 20-25 minutes until beautifully golden. Allow to rest for 2-3 minutes before indulging.
