Fluffy cinnamon scones with buttermilk and cinnamon chips, perfect for brunch or tea.
Ingredients:
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.75 cup cold unsalted butter, cut in small pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup cinnamon chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and grease or line cookie sheets lightly.
  • Combine flour, white sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Use 2 knives or a pastry blender to cut in the butter until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla until dough is moistened, then gently mix in the cinnamon chips.
  • Spoon dough in 1/4-cup portions onto cookie sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the hot oven until golden brown, about 15 to 17 minutes.
