Apple cinnamon scones with a perfect balance of sweetness and a prominent apple flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 cup butter, chilled
  • 1 apple - peeled, cored and shredded
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate butter or margarine until mixture resembles crumbs. Fold in shredded apple and milk until a soft dough forms.
  • Transfer dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead 8 to 10 times, then shape into two 6-inch circles. Arrange on a greased baking sheet. Brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, and score each into 6 wedges.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Enjoy warm with butter.
