Maple cinnamon oat apple scones: a delicious breakfast or brunch delight.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely ground oats
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and shredded
  • 0.25 cup half-and-half
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla-flavored maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
  • Combine flour, oats, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Use a pastry blender to incorporate cold butter. Fold in shredded apples until evenly distributed. Mix in half-and-half, egg, and maple syrup until dough is sticky but holds its shape; be careful not to overmix.
  • Transfer dough to a floured surface and shape into a 1/2-inch thick circle. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Brush dough with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Cut into 12 wedges and arrange on baking sheets with space between each wedge.
  • Bake until beautifully golden in the preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes.
