Tangy Buttermilk French toast with sweet maple syrup offers a delicious twist on a classic dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.75 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 4 thick slices Texas toast

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon maple-flavored extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Whisk eggs in a bowl until silky. Mix in buttermilk, almond extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg, continue beating until the batter is velvety. Dip bread into the batter until fully coated.
  • In a greased skillet over medium heat, cook bread until both sides are golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes per side.
  • In a saucepan, mix white sugar, water, and brown sugar, then bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool for 2 minutes. Stir in maple-flavored extract and vanilla extract. Pour over French toast and enjoy!
