Blueberry Buttermilk Baked Fruit Dessert: A modern take on classic French dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen blueberries
  • 9 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously coat a baking dish with butter.
  • Spread a luscious layer of fresh blueberries in the prepared baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, and sugar. Gradually add the flour mixture to the buttermilk mixture and stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract and orange zest. Gently pour the batter over the blueberries in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until set. Sprinkle with a layer of brown sugar and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the sugar is lightly browned. Serve warm or cold.
