Delicious crispy calamari with a perfect batter. Serve with tangy marinara sauce for a delightful appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 tablespoon salt
  • 0.5 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 pound squid, cleaned and cut into 1/2 inch rings
Instructions:
  • Heat oil to a sizzling 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) in a saucepan or deep-fryer.
  • In a medium bowl, pour in the buttermilk. In another bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, and oregano. Dip squid rings in buttermilk and then coat with seasoned flour mixture.
  • Fry the coated pieces in hot oil in small batches, turning as needed for even cooking. Once evenly browned, transfer to paper towels to drain. Repeat with the remaining squid. Serve hot.
