Indulge in Grandma's velvety butterscotch pie - pure dessert bliss!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 0.25 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup butter, melted
  • 0.75 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup whipping cream, whipped
  • 6 pecan halves
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Roast oats on a baking sheet in the preheated oven for 12 minutes until golden. Allow to cool before using.
  • Prepare the crust by blending oats and 1/4 cup of brown sugar in a medium bowl, then add 1/3 cup of butter and mix well. Press the mixture firmly onto the bottom and sides of an 8-inch pie pan. Refrigerate for 1 hour before using.
  • Prepare the filling by simmering 3/4 cup brown sugar, flour, salt, and milk in a saucepan until it thickens. Remove from heat, mix in 3 tablespoons of butter and vanilla, then transfer to a bowl and chill covered for an hour until cold.
  • After chilling, gently combine 1/2 cup of whipped cream into the mixture. Transfer the filling into the pie shell and refrigerate until firm. Before serving, garnish with 1/4 cup of whipped cream dollops and artfully place 6 pecan halves on top of the pie.
