Add spicy cinnamon candies to slow cooker apple butter for a vibrant burst of flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 4 Honeycrisp apples - peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 0.25 cup cinnamon red hot candies
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 cups unsweetened apple juice, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Combine the apples with the refreshing lemon juice in a bowl for a zesty twist.
  • Add a generous amount of half of the apples in a slow cooker along with cinnamon candies, brown sugar, ginger, and cloves; mix well. Pour in just enough apple juice to almost cover the apples.
  • Cook on Low heat, stirring occasionally, until the candies fully dissolve, approximately 1 hour.
  • Turn up the heat to High and cook until the apples start to break down, approximately 4 hours. Then, add the rest of the apples to the slow cooker. Lower the heat to Low and simmer until the desired thickness is achieved, for a minimum of 3 hours.
