Versatile caramelized onions, perfect for enhancing any dish or as a savory burger topping.
Ingredients:
  • 80g butter
  • 36.40 gm extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5kg brown onions, halved, thinly sliced
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan or deep frying pan over medium heat, melt butter and oil together. Add onion and cover, cooking for 10 minutes until starting to soften. Reduce heat to medium low and continue cooking uncovered for 20 minutes until onion is very soft and lightly golden.
  • Sprinkle in sugar and stir consistently for 5 minutes until the sugar fully dissolves and perfectly coats the onion. Take it off the heat and let it cool down. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
