Award-Winning 2008 Sugar Cookies: Buttery and spiced with a sweet dusting of powdered sugar.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped toasted almonds
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine cookie mix, almonds, allspice, cardamom, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Mix in butter, vanilla, and almond extract until dough is soft.
  • Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between each ball.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes until perfectly set. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer from the cookie sheets to a cooling rack.
  • Prepare a shallow bowl with powdered sugar. Roll the warm cookies gently in the powdered sugar until all sides are coated, then transfer them to a cooling rack. Allow the cookies to cool completely for about 15 minutes before rolling them in sugar once more.
