Delicious Chinese BBQ chicken drumettes for your next party hit! 🍗
Ingredients:
  • 125.00 ml char siu sauce
  • 21.00 gm soy sauce
  • 20.00 ml shao hsing (Chinese cooking wine)
  • 2cm piece fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1.4kg chicken drumettes
  • 2 green onions (green part only), to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large glass dish, mix together the sauces, shao hsing, ginger, and sesame oil. Add the chicken and season with pepper. Toss to coat evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Place the chicken pieces in 2 ovenproof dishes, making sure to save the marinade. Drizzle with some of the reserved marinade. Bake for 45 minutes, basting the chicken with the marinade occasionally, and rotate the dishes halfway through cooking until the chicken is fully cooked.
  • Cut the onion into 8cm lengths and then slice each piece lengthwise into thin strips. Soak the strips in a bowl of ice water and let them sit for 10 minutes until they curl. Drain thoroughly before using.
  • Transfer the chicken to a serving platter and generously sprinkle with onion before serving.
