Elevate mac and cheese with crispy bacon for a gourmet twist on a classic comfort food, surpassing any packaged version.
Ingredients:
  • 1.75 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups KRAFT Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, divided
  • 3 slices OSCAR MAYER Center Cut Bacon, cooked, crumbled
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then cook elbow macaroni until al dente, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes. Drain and keep warm.
  • Simultaneously, gently melt butter in a sizable saucepan. Blend in flour, stirring until a creamy paste forms and bubbles, around 2 minutes. Slowly pour in milk and gently simmer over medium heat. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture is velvety and thick, for 3 to 5 minutes. Add 1 1/2 cups Cheddar and stir until fully melted, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Combine macaroni and bacon in the saucepan with the sauce, gently stirring to mix. Add more milk if needed to coat the pasta evenly. Transfer the mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish and sprinkle 1/2 cup Cheddar on top.
  • Bake until the dish is hot and bubbly, for approximately 20 minutes in the preheated oven.
