Easter-perfect, rich and vibrant cheesy grits side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2.25 cups whole milk
  • 2.25 cups water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 1 (8 ounce) package processed cheese (such as Velveeta®), cubed
  • 0.5 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.125 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously butter a 9x12-inch baking dish.
  • In a large saucepan, bring milk, water, and salt to a boil. Gradually sprinkle in grits while stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Combine the processed cheese, sharp Cheddar cheese, butter, and garlic powder with the grits, stirring until the cheese has melted. Allow the mixture to cool for about 15 minutes. Mix in the beaten eggs and then transfer everything to the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown and the grits are set.
