Cheeseburger Salad

Cheeseburger salad: lettuce, ground beef, cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard, onion, and hamburger bun croutons.
Ingredients:
  • 2 hamburger buns, split and cut into 3/4 inch strips*
  • 0.5 small red onion, chopped
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 cup finely chopped dill pickle
  • 1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 0.5 small red onion, sliced
  • 8 cups chopped lettuce
  • 2 plum tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Lay the strips in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly toasted. Remove and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef for 10 to 12 minutes, breaking it apart until well browned. Add the chopped onion, ketchup, dill pickle, and mustard, and mix thoroughly.
  • On a large serving platter, layer the chopped lettuce and spoon over the beef mixture. Top with sliced onion, plum tomatoes, shredded cheese, and arrange the hamburger bun croutons around the edges.
