Healthier, flavorful burger with lower fat and higher fiber. Pair with air fryer sweet potato chips and side salad for a healthier take on fast food.
Ingredients:
  • 400g lean beef mince
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 125.00 ml fresh breadcrumbs (see note)
  • 11.80 gm American mustard
  • 9.15 gm worcestershire sauce
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • 4 slices (20g each) reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 4 multigrain rolls, halved, toasted
  • 250.00 ml shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 small cucumber, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together mince, green onion, egg yolk, breadcrumbs, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Shape the mixture into four 2cm-thick patties. Transfer them to a large plate and cover with plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Preheat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Lightly oil the patties and cook for 10 minutes, flipping every 2 minutes to prevent burning. Add cheese on top of the patties and cover to melt for 2 minutes.
  • Place roll bases on individual plates. Arrange lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, patties, and roll tops on the bases. Serve. Consider using a low-GI bread for breadcrumbs for a healthier twist.
