Delightful cheesy garlic pull-apart bread, great as a starter or with winter soup/stew.
Ingredients:
  • 100g butter, softened
  • 5 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 125.00 ml finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
  • 750.00 ml bread flour
  • 3 tsp instant yeast
  • 3.60 gm salt
  • 250.00 gm warm water
  • 70g cheddar
Instructions:
  • Mix together butter, minced garlic, and freshly chopped parsley in a bowl.
  • Using an electric mixer with the hook attachment, combine flour, yeast, and salt until mixed. Create a well in the center and add warm water along with 2/3 of the butter mixture. Mix for 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Transfer the dough to a large greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Cut the cheese into 30 1cm cubes and grease a 20cm x 30cm lamington pan using some of the butter mixture (see note).
  • Flatten each portion of dough into a disc. Place a cube of cheese in the center and fold over the dough to enclose the cheese, then pinch to form a ball. Repeat for all portions. Arrange the cheese-filled dough balls in the prepared pan. Brush them generously with the butter mixture. Cover and let them stand in a warm place for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan-forced, then bake until golden brown, approximately 30 minutes. Brush with the leftover butter mixture, let it stand for 10 minutes, and then serve.
