Spicy cheddar thumbprint cookies with hot pepper jelly: a crowd-pleasing party appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons chilled butter, chopped
  • 0.5 cup hot pepper jelly
Instructions:
  • Pulse Cheddar cheese, flour, and butter in a food processor until mixture resembles coarse meal and comes together to form a ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and space them 1-inch apart on a baking sheet.
  • After baking for 5 minutes in the preheated oven, carefully create an indentation in the top of each ball by pressing your thumb. Fill each indentation with approximately 1 teaspoon of pepper jelly. Return to the oven and bake until the edges turn golden brown, which should take about 5 more minutes.
