Spooky Halloween sugar cookie bars using Betty Crocker® mix.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch pan. In a large bowl, combine the cookie mix with butter using a pastry blender or two knives until it resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside 1 1/2 cups of the mixture for the topping. Press the rest of the mixture into the bottom of the pan and bake for 10 minutes. Allow it to cool before proceeding.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend cream cheese, sugar, flour, vanilla, and egg until smooth. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the partially baked crust, then spoon the cherry pie filling evenly on top.
  • Combine 1 1/2 cups of reserved crumb mixture with almonds in a small bowl, and sprinkle over the pie filling.
  • Bake until light golden brown, 40-45 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes, then refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Cut into 6 rows by 4 rows and store covered in the refrigerator.
