Simple one-bowl recipe featuring tangy sour cherries and cherry juice, baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups pitted sour cherries
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1.25 cups cherry juice
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and generously grease a 10x10-inch baking dish.
  • In a spacious bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and 1 cup of sugar. Add butter, milk, and vanilla, then beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes until smooth. Pour the batter into a pan and top evenly with cherries.
  • Warm the cherry juice until it gently simmers either in the microwave or on the stovetop. Sprinkle the cherries with 1/2 cup of sugar, then pour the hot cherry juice over them. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
