Indulgent chocolate cherry brownies - a must-have treat for any gathering!
Ingredients:
  • 1 jar (10 oz) maraschino cherries
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chunks (2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 to 5 teaspoons reserved maraschino cherry liquid
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Drain cherries thoroughly, saving the liquid for the glaze. Halve the cherries and set them aside.
  • Melt chocolate chips and butter in a 3-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and mix in flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla, and eggs. Gently fold in cherries and chocolate chunks. Spread batter evenly in an ungreased 13x9-inch pan.
  • Bake until the center is set, for 32 to 37 minutes. Allow to cool thoroughly for about 1 hour.
  • Mix glaze ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Transfer the glaze into a resealable plastic bag, cut a tiny hole in one corner, then squeeze onto brownies in your desired pattern. Cut the brownies into 6 rows by 4 rows.
