Delicious chewy snack bars made with maple syrup, peanut butter, oats, and cranberries - a perfect dessert!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup maple-flavored syrup
  • 2/3 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup cherry- or orange-flavored sweetened dried cranberries
Instructions:
  • Prepare your 13x9-inch pan by generously coating the bottom and sides with shortening. In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar and maple syrup, bring to a boil and let it cook for 1 minute while stirring frequently. Remove from heat and blend in peanut butter and vanilla until the mixture is smooth.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients into the peanut butter mixture until well combined. Press the mixture evenly into the pan. Chill in the refrigerator for about 2 hours or until firm. Cut into 6 rows by 4 rows to make bars. Keep the bars covered in the refrigerator for storage.
