Cheesy chicken and veggie casserole topped with golden buttermilk biscuits for a delicious dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, divided
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 0.25 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper
  • 2 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cooked, diced chicken breast
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup chopped fresh green beans
  • 1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, heat the margarine until hot and bubbly. Quickly stir in the flour, mustard, and sage until combined. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture is smooth.
  • Stir in bouillon and pepper until well combined. Lower the heat and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Combine cheese and cook until melted. Introduce chicken, mushrooms, and green beans. Heat thoroughly for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Spread the chicken mixture evenly in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Take the biscuits and split them into two layers to create 10 circles. Place the biscuit circles on top of the chicken mixture.
  • Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) until biscuits are golden, around 10 to 12 minutes.
