Enjoy a delectable pear dessert showcasing the best of winter fruits.
Ingredients:
  • 2 beurre bosc pears, peeled, cored, halved, thinly sliced
  • 161.25 gm caster sugar
  • 225.00 gm self-raising flour, sifted
  • 42.90 gm cocoa powder, sifted
  • 257.50 gm milk
  • 75g butter, melted
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 118.80 gm firmly packed brown sugar
  • 500.00 gm boiling water
  • Vanilla ice-cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Place the pear in a microwave-safe bowl, cover, and microwave on high for 2 minutes or until just tender.
  • In a bowl, mix sugar, flour, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa. Add milk, butter, chocolate, and pear, then spoon the mixture into an 8-cup ovenproof dish. Dust the top with the remaining cocoa and sprinkle with brown sugar. Place the dish on a baking tray, then gently pour boiling water over the mixture using the back of a large metal spoon.
  • Bake until the top is set, about 30 to 35 minutes. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes, then serve with a scoop of ice cream.
