Create decadent bars from yellow cake mix with crunchy nuts and oats, swirled with creamy chocolate and caramel.
Ingredients:
  • 1 jar (12.25 oz) caramel topping (1 cup)
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan), then line a 13x9-inch pan with foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang on the short ends, and coat the foil with cooking spray.
  • Combine caramel topping and 1 tablespoon of cake mix in a small bowl; set aside. In a large bowl, mix the remaining cake mix, butter, and egg with an electric mixer on low speed for about 1 minute until crumbly. Mix in oats by hand if needed. Set aside 1 cup of the oat mixture. Press the rest into the bottom of the pan using plastic wrap. Bake for 14 to 18 minutes until light golden brown.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips and walnuts over the warm crust. Drizzle the caramel mixture evenly over the toppings, leaving a 1/2-inch border along the edges. Finish by crumbling the reserved oat mixture over the top.
  • 1. Bake until perfectly golden, for around 20-25 minutes. Let them cool completely for approximately 2 hours. 2. Lift the bars using the foil, then gently remove them from the pan and peel off the foil. 3. Cut into perfectly sized bars by slicing across 6 rows and then down 4 rows. Keep them covered for storage.
