Zesty Italian dessert: Ladyfinger cookies soaked in orange juice and liqueur, layered with whipped cream and mascarpone.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 0.25 cup orange-flavored liqueur (such as Grand Marnier), divided
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups orange juice (such as Simply®)
  • 3 (3 ounce) packages soft ladyfingers
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, or as needed, divided
Instructions:
  • Combine creamy mascarpone cheese with a generous splash of zesty orange liqueur in a large bowl, stirring until mixture is velvety smooth.
  • Combine cream, sugar, and vanilla in a separate bowl and use an electric mixer to whip until soft peaks form. Gently fold in 1/4 of the whipped cream to the mascarpone mixture with a large rubber spatula until smooth, then carefully fold in the rest until the mixture is consistent in color.
  • Combine orange juice and orange liqueur in a shallow bowl. Dip ladyfingers quickly in the mixture, then layer them in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread half the mascarpone mixture over the cookies, then sprinkle half the cocoa powder. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
  • Chill the covered baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours to overnight until completely chilled.
