Spiced apple bread with chocolate chips and walnut topping.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 cup chopped apples
  • 0.5 cup walnuts
  • 0.25 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and finely chopped walnuts to create a delicious topping. Set aside for later use.
  • Combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium bowl and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine butter and sugar until creamy. Mix in eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately, stirring well. Fold in apples, walnuts, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Transfer the batter to a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan and sprinkle with topping.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes, then cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan and transferring to a wire rack to cool.
