Chocolate Brittle Surprise

Decadent chocolate toffee. Perfect for entertaining or gifting during the holidays.
Ingredients:
  • 35 unsalted soda crackers
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a cookie sheet with foil, then spray with cooking oil.
  • Arrange crackers in neat rows on a foil-lined 5 x 7 inch tray.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter on high for 2 minutes. Stir in brown sugar. Microwave on high for 2 more minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.
  • Cover crackers with the mixture and bake for 17-20 minutes until bubbling but not burnt.
  • Once the chocolate chips have been sprinkled over the hot crackers, allow them to sit for 2 minutes to soften. After that, spread the chocolate evenly before adding a sprinkle of nuts on top for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour until firm. Break into bite-sized pieces. Can also be stored in the freezer for later enjoyment.
