Ingredients:
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1.5 cups butter, melted
  • 1.75 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 7 eggs
  • 2 cups whipped cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), then generously grease a 10-inch round pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  • Finely chop chocolate squares and combine with chocolate chips in a large bowl. Pour in melted butter. In a saucepan, bring water and 1 1/2 cups sugar to a boil, then carefully pour over chocolate mixture. Stir until silky smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, vigorously whip eggs with the remaining 1/4 cup sugar until beautifully thick. Gently fold this mixture into the decadent chocolate blend. Pour the luscious batter into a 10-inch pan.
  • Place a 10-inch pan on a baking sheet in the oven and fill the sheet with water.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 to 50 minutes. Remove from oven, cool, and refrigerate for several hours. Use caution when handling the hot sheet pan.
  • With the cake nicely cooled, gently submerge the pan in hot water to easily separate the cake. Finish by elegantly decorating with a dollop of fluffy whipped cream before presenting it to be enjoyed.
