Prepare and chill easy slice-and-bake cookie dough for convenient baking.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped nuts
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 1/3 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Combine butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg in a medium bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium speed or mix with a spoon until well combined. Add flour and salt, and stir until incorporated.
  • Divide the dough into 3 equal parts. Mix melted chocolate and nuts into one part, orange peel into another part, and chocolate chips into the last part.
  • Prepare a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan by lining it with plastic wrap, ensuring there is a 1-inch overhang on two opposite sides. Spread the orange peel dough evenly in the bottom of the pan. Spoon the chocolate-nut dough over the orange peel dough, spreading it carefully. Then, spoon the chocolate chip dough over the chocolate-nut layer, spreading it evenly. Cover the pan and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until chilled.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Gently lift the dough from the pan using plastic wrap. Slice the dough lengthwise in half and then crosswise into 1/4-inch slices. Arrange the slices on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving 1 inch of space between each.
  • Bake the cookies until light brown, for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove them from the cookie sheet and place on a wire rack right away.
