Indulge in a simple and elegant dessert using Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix, creating a delicious treat with the timeless pairing of chocolate and cherries.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon cherry extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 tablespoon maraschino cherry juice
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 teaspoon shortening
  • 36 maraschino cherries with stems
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Combine cookie mix, flour, butter, egg, cherry extract, almond extract, and cherry juice in a medium bowl. Mix with a spoon until a soft dough forms. Fold in chopped cherries and miniature chocolate chips.
  • Scoop teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until edges turn light golden brown. Using the end of a wooden spoon handle, gently press an indentation into the center of each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven. Allow them to cool for 1 minute before transferring to cooling racks. Let them cool completely.
  • In a small microwavable bowl, heat 1/4 cup of chocolate chips and shortening uncovered in 30-second intervals on High, stirring after each, until chips are soft; mix until smooth. Dip each stemmed cherry into the melted chocolate and place in the center of each cooled cookie.
