Elevate your Derby party with a classic Southern chocolate-walnut pie.
Ingredients:
  • Whipped cream, if desired
  • 1 crust from 1 box (14.1 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Pie Crusts (2 Count), softened as directed on box
  • 1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Gently press the pie crust into an 8- or 9-inch pie plate and create decorative edges as desired. Chill in the refrigerator.
  • Combine flour, brown sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Mix in eggs, melted butter, and vanilla until well incorporated. Fold in walnuts and chocolate chips, then evenly spread the mixture into the pie crust.
  • Bake the pie until golden, for about 45 to 50 minutes. Let it cool completely for 1 to 2 hours before serving, and top each slice with whipped cream.
