Decadent chocolate dessert for ultimate chocolate lovers - irresistible!
Ingredients:
  • 250g plain flour
  • 25g icing sugar, plus extra to dust
  • 175g cold butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 150g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 150g walnuts, lightly toasted
  • 170g caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Chocolate fudge sauce, to serve
  • Cream, to serve
  • 787.50 gm sugar
  • 175g Dutch cocoa powder
  • 75g unsalted butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and icing sugar, then add the butter and a pinch of salt. Use your fingers or a food processor to blend them into fine breadcrumbs. Mix in 1 whole egg until a smooth dough forms. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Pulse the chocolate and walnuts in a food processor until finely chopped. Transfer to a bowl, then mix in the caster sugar and remaining whole eggs until well combined.
  • Allow the pastry to come to room temperature and set aside one third for the top crust. Roll out the rest of the pastry on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/2cm and use it to line a greased 11 x 36cm loose-bottomed tart pan.
  • Roll out the remaining pastry to 1/2cm thickness. Spread the filling over the pastry base, dampen the edges with water, and cover with the top pastry. Seal by pressing the edges together, trim excess pastry, and create 3 small slits on the top for steam to escape.
  • Whisk the egg yolk with a splash of water and brush it over the tart. Bake for 35 minutes until nicely golden. Let it cool in the pan, then transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with icing sugar. Serve sliced with chocolate fudge sauce and cream.
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar and 3 1/2 cups of water. Cook on low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 15 minutes, then whisk in sifted cocoa powder. Continue to simmer for 10 more minutes, add butter, and stir until melted. Let it cool before using.
