Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 3 fluid ounces heavy cream, or more as needed
  • 2 drops green gel food coloring, or as desired
  • edible candy decorations
Instructions:
  • - Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), then give your 8-inch square pan a loving slick of grease and flour.
  • First, melt butter in a large saucepan until smooth. Take it off the heat and mix in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined. Then, gently fold in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Finally, evenly spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Place in a warm oven for 25-30 minutes, making sure not to overcook. After baking, transfer to a wire rack to cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.
  • Cream the shortening for the frosting until light and airy. Slowly incorporate the confectioner's sugar and beat until smooth and fully combined. Mix in 3 ounces of cream, vanilla, and salt on low speed until just combined. If needed, add up to 1 more ounce of cream. Increase speed to high and beat until the frosting is fluffy.
  • Pour half of the frosting into a separate bowl and blend in green gel food coloring until you reach your desired green hue.
  • Cut out 8 Christmas trees from the pan of cooled brownies using a tree-shaped cookie cutter.
  • Use a piping bag to create snow-covered tree designs on the cooled brownies using green and white frostings. Garnish with candies for a festive touch.
