Transform traditional brownies into festive Christmas tree shapes for a fun twist.
Ingredients:
  • 200g dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 200g butter, chopped
  • 220g brown sugar
  • 3 Free Range Eggs
  • 150g plain flour
  • 35g cocoa powder
  • 60g sour cream
  • 95g choc bits
  • 125g butter, extra, softened
  • 320g icing sugar mixture
  • 20.60 gm milk
  • Green liquid food colouring
  • M&M’s Minis, to decorate
  • Sugar stars, to decorate
  • Sprinkles, to decorate
  • 100's and 1000's, to decorate
  • 12 candy canes
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C. Prepare a 22cm square cake pan by greasing and lining the base and sides with baking paper.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate and chopped butter together, stirring constantly until smooth. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
  • Combine brown sugar with chocolate mixture and stir. Incorporate eggs and mix. Add flour, cocoa powder, and sour cream, and stir until combined. Gently fold in white chocolate bits. Pour mixture into prepared pan and smooth the surface. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted in the center. Cool completely in the pan.
  • In a bowl, use an electric mixer to beat softened butter until very pale. Gradually add icing sugar in batches, beating well after each addition until pale and creamy. Then, add milk and beat to combine.
  • Place the brownie on a clean work surface and trim the outside edges using a large serrated knife. Cut the brownie in half, then slice each half into 6 triangles, each about 10cm long and 6cm wide.
  • Color half of the icing with green food coloring and transfer it to a piping bag with a 5mm fluted nozzle. Pipe over half of the brownie triangles. Transfer the remaining icing to a piping bag with a 5mm plain nozzle and pipe over the rest of the brownie triangles. Decorate the triangles with M&M’s, sugar stars, sprinkles, and 100’s and 1000’s. Remove the round end of each candy cane and attach the remaining candy cane to the base of each brownie triangle to create Christmas trees.
