Overnight Christmas hash brown casserole for a convenient and delicious morning treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 cups fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 4 medium eggs
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 pinch dried parsley
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Prepare all ingredients.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, crisp the bacon, flipping occasionally, until golden and delicious, around 10 minutes. Place the cooked bacon on a paper towel-lined plate to cool and crumble later. Remove the excess grease from the skillet.
  • Saute onions and mushrooms in the flavorful skillet drippings until onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Butter the 9x13-inch casserole dish generously. Layer the potatoes at the bottom and season them with salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top, followed by the onions and mushrooms.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine milk, eggs, and parsley, whisking until well combined. Pour the mixture over the casserole and sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C. Then bake until set, approximately 1 hour.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs and savor while still warm.
