Elevate your favorite holiday dessert with my cranberry sauce shortcut for a perfect blend of Christmas flavors and sweetness. Enhance the festive vibe with a hint of cinnamon or nutmeg in the filling.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 kg mixed eating apples and pears
  • 100 g quality cranberry sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sherry, brandy, Vin Santo, whisky, rum optional
  • 1 clementine
  • 50 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 100 g plain flour
  • 50 g golden caster sugar
  • 50 g flaked almonds or unsalted festive nuts
  • 1 mince pie (60g)
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. Peel, core, quarter, and chop the apples and pears into 3cm chunks. Cook with cranberry sauce, booze (if using), clementine zest, and juice until softened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. 2. In a mixing bowl, rub butter, flour, and salt together until breadcrumb texture. Add sugar, almonds/nuts, and crumbled mince pie. 3. Transfer fruit to a baking dish and top with crumble mixture. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbling. Serve with custard, ice cream, or brandy butter.
