Impressively easy cake made with Betty Crocker™ mix and frosting.
Ingredients:
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Vanilla Cake Mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/2 cup seedless strawberry jam
  • 4 tubs (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 1 box (4.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Fruit by the Foot™ strawberry chewy fruit snack rolls
  • Red, green and lime green paste food color
  • 1 Gift Tag Cookie
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and lightly flour 3 (8-inch) square cake pans with shortening.
  • In a large bowl, mix cake mix, milk, oil, eggs, and almond extract on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for 2 minutes. Next, evenly distribute the batter among the pans.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then transfer from pans to cooling racks. Allow to cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • With a serrated knife, level the top of each cake layer and gently remove any crumbs. Place the first cake layer, cut side up, on a serving plate and spread 1/4 cup of jam followed by 3/4 cup of frosting. Repeat this process with the second cake layer. Place the last cake layer, cut side down, on top. Using a large spatula, apply a thin layer of frosting all over the cake to seal in the crumbs. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then, apply a thicker layer of frosting, ensuring the sides and top of the cake are smooth.
  • Cut 4 (8-inch) pieces from fruit snacks and place them on top and sides of the cake, gently pressing into the frosting to resemble a ribbon. Spoon 1/4 cup of frosting into a mound in the center of the cake. Cut the remaining fruit snacks into 4-inch pieces, fold each in half to create loops, and press them into the frosting mound to form a large bow.
  • Divide 1/3 cup frosting evenly into 3 small bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl, green to the second, and lime green to the third. Transfer each colored frosting into separate small resealable plastic bags or disposable decorating bags. Cut a small corner off each bag and attach a writing tip. Pipe dots onto the cake using the different colored frostings. Finally, place the Gift Tag Cookie on top of the cake for a finishing touch.
