Cinnamon spiced applesauce with citrus zest, perfect for holiday latkes. Enjoy warm or chilled.
Ingredients:
  • 12 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and cut into large chunks
  • 1.5 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 0.75 cup white sugar, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions:
  • In a large heavy pot over medium heat, combine apples and orange juice, stirring occasionally until apples begin to soften, approximately 10 minutes. Add white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, orange zest, lemon zest, nutmeg, and lemon juice to the pot with the apples. Continue cooking and stirring until applesauce thickens and becomes chunky, about 25 minutes. Serve warm or chilled.
