Apple and brown sugar cider glaze elevates smoky bratwurst links.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package (14 oz) cooked smoked bratwurst (6 links)
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cut into julienne strips
Instructions:
  • In a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Place bratwurst links in the skillet and turn the heat up to medium-high. Sear them for about 8 minutes until they are nicely browned on all sides. Then, add apple cider and brown sugar to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to medium and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Finally, remove the bratwurst from the skillet and set them aside on a plate, covering them to keep warm.
  • Place the apple slices into the sizzling skillet and let them cook for 10 minutes until they are soft and the sauce thickens. Gently add the bratwurst back into the skillet and get ready to serve.
