Transform apple pie ingredients into delicious apple pie bars in a casserole dish, topped with a sweet glaze.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15 ounce) package pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced, or more to taste
  • 3 gala apples, peeled and sliced, or more to taste
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk, or as needed
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Roll out 1 pie crust into a 9x13-inch rectangle on a work surface. Gently place the crust in a 9x13-inch baking dish, fitting any extra pieces into the corners.
  • Combine white sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Coat Granny Smith and gala apples with sugar mixture. Spread apple mixture over pie crust and pour remaining juices over apples.
  • Roll out the remaining pie crust into a 9x13-inch rectangle and gently lay it over the apple layer, folding the edges over the apples for a beautiful and fully covered finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the crust turns golden brown, for 45 to 50 minutes. Allow the apple bars to cool slightly for about 20 minutes.
  • Combine confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, whisking until a smooth consistency is achieved, then drizzle the topping over the bars.
